Below is a list of some frequently asked questions, but please feel free to call our office, or email us at info@professionalevaluationgroup.com.  We want to answer your questions.

Why do I need to go to the doctor if I'm feeling fine?  What's the purpose of a preventive physical examination?

There is uniform agreement among medical experts that a preventive physical examination is essential in catching medical problems before they become serious.  This fact is backed by medical research which demonstrates that 70% of all premature deaths in the U.S. could have been prevented by annual physical exams.

Why go to PEMG?  Can't I go to my private physician for this examination?

PEMG has designed its services specifically for preventive care.  Many benefit plans contract with PEMG directly for this service, a service that can only be performed by PEMG.  For patients that have options, many choose PEMG because we are a one-stop medical center.  For example: each PEMG medical center provides a blood drawing service (phlebotomy), gynecological exams, sigmoidoscopy exams, electrocardiograms (EKG's), and pulmonary function tests.  On site x-rays are performed in our Manhattan, Hicksville (Nassau), Centereach (Suffolk) and New Jersey locations.  Many physicians, in order to provide the same medical tests listed above by PEMG in one appointment and in one location, require patients to travel to different offices (e.g. radiologist, gastroenterologist, gynecologist, lab, etc.).  PEMG also sends each patient a fully dictated medical report.

How does the examination process work with PEMG?

You begin by calling PEMG at 516-935-4378 or 1-800-811-PEMG to schedule an appointment with one of our customer service representatives.  Once scheduled, you will receive a confirmation letter in the mail with instructions on how to prepare for the examination and directions to a specific PEMG medical center.

Who is eligible for the examination?

PEMG will check with your insurance company, and/or benefit fund office to check you and your family's eligibility.  PEMG is a participating provider of GHI, Magnacare, Vytra (Suffolk County), Empire Blue Cross PPO and Multiplan.  Each plan has specific benefit plan benefits.  Each medical plan has different eligibility requirements.  Most plans cover spouses, some plans even cover eligible children.  Your PEMG customer service representative will answer any questions.

What is the cost of this physical examination benefit?

Most union benefit plans cover the annual physical exam benefit cost.  Some benefit plans require a small co-pay of $5 or $10.  The PEMG customer service representative will be able to tell you if there are any out-of-pocket costs.  Many benefit plans have no out-of-pocket costs associated with the annual physical examination.  If you are not covered for the examination and still want to pay for the exam, PEMG will charge a very competitive rate for the medical tests performed.
